Data sources and verification
Government data
Listings may come from CMS Care Compare provider data (nursing homes, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, home health and hospice) and from organization records in the NPPES NPI Registry. Each listing shows its sources and the date they were retrieved.
What an NPI does — and does not — mean
An NPI shows that an organization is registered in the national provider identifier system. It does not confirm a current state license, facility quality, clinical competence or availability.
Licensing verification
Our team checks licenses with state agencies and boards and records the agency, license number, status and date. Listings show "Verified", "Pending review" or "Not yet verified".
Government quality measures
Star ratings and other CMS measures are shown in a separate "Independent government data" panel exactly as published, apart from provider-supplied information and reviews.
Provider-supplied information
Descriptions, services, amenities and pricing supplied by providers are labeled as such. Pricing and insurance details appear only after we verify them.
Duplicates and updates
Records from different sources are matched using CMS certification numbers, NPIs, addresses and phone numbers, then reviewed for duplicates. Sources are refreshed on a regular schedule.
Privacy
General inquiry forms collect contact details only. Please do not include diagnoses, medications, insurance ID numbers or other health information.
